Daniel was born before 4 DEC 1796 in Finmere, Oxfordshire, the son of James Steeden and Mary Nibbs.[Note 2]

He died on 4 SEP 1869. The place is not known.

His wife was Elizabeth Newett, whom he married on 8 MAY 1821 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their twelve known children were Alice (?-1866), Elizabeth (<1823-?), Joseph (<1825-<1841), John Thomas (c1826-1888), Eleanor (1830-?), Richard (1832-<1834), Richard William (<1834-1881), George (1836-c1837), Shugborough Newett (1838-1879), Eliza Anne (1841-<1867), Joseph Francis (1844-1885) and Amelia (1844-?).
