Ralph was born before 2 MAY 1741, the son of Ralph Butler and Amy Godfrey. The place is not known.[Note 2]

He died on 19 SEP 1794 in Bletchingdon, Oxfordshire.[Note 3]

His wife was Martha Coney, whom he married on 18 FEB 1760 in St. Martin's, Carfax, Oxford, Oxfordshire. Their ten known children were Martha (<1760-?), Ralph (<1764-1829), James (1766-1781), William (<1767-1825), John (<1768-1822), Amy (<1770-1842), Mary (<1771-?), Ann (<1776-1839), Sarah (1779-1852) and Elizabeth (c1781-?).

BIOGRAPHY: Notes from Ralph Butler Clarke (1899- 1990s) research:

He left New Inn Farm, Beckley to son Ralph Butler (1764-1829), an estate at Kidlington to Wm Butler (1762-1825), & also the Grove Farm, Bletchingdon. William's estates were left to his illegitimate son Wm Butler States & his daughter Kate & Sarah. An estate at Stanton St John was left by Ralph Butler (1741-1794)to John Butler (1768-1822). New Inn Farm was left to Martha (1800-1873), Ralph (1801-1848, Wm (1803-1861) and Amy (1807-1872). Ralph had £20 per annum from estate At death of Martha & Amy was to be divided among nearest relations.
