Emmanuel was born about 1866 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of Benjamin Butcher and Elizabeth Barnes.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Louisa Burton, whom he married in ABT FEB 1890 in York registration district. Their only known child was Laura (c1890-?).

His second wife was Beatrice Mary Rowlin, whom he married in 1908 in NOT MARRIED?. Their two known children were Emanuel Rowlin (c1908-?) and Sidney Rowlin (c1910-?).
