His wife was Sarah Holton, whom he married on 2 JUN 1863 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their ten known children were James (<1863-1955), William (1866-?), Caroline (1868-<1868), Mary Jane (1869-1955), Sarah Ann (1872-c1873), John (<1873-?), [Eliza] Martha (c1875-?), Joseph (c1878-1962), Amy (c1880-?) and Emily (c1885-?).
