Emily was born about 1876 in Chinley, Derbyshire, the daughter of unknown parents.[Note 1]

Her husband was George Harry Baker, whom she married in ABT AUG 1903 in Shardlow registration district, Derbyshire. Their four known children were Ada (c1905-?), George Clarke (c1907-?), Robert Eric (c1908-?) and Irene Freda (c1909-?).
