Personal and Family Information

George was born about 1809 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire or Shalstone, the son of George Steeden and Hannah Cleaver.[Note 2]

He died in AUG 1885. The place is not known.[Notes 3, 4]

His wife was Eliza Coleman, whom he married on 3 OCT 1834 in Chetwode, Buckinghamshire. Their ten known children were Eli (1835->1861), George (c1836-?), Rebecca (1839-?), Richard (c1841-?), Maria (1843-?), James William (<1846-?), Elizabeth (<1848-?), Mary Ann (1850-?), Ellen (<1852-?) and Mark (<1855-?).

On Tuesday next the 21st day of March, at the Two Swans Inn, in Buckingham, at Four o'clock in the afternoon, subject to such conditions as will be then read, by order of Mr. B. Warr, the proprietor and occupier -- All that substantially-built FARM HOUSE, pleasantly situate in the Upper-street of Tingewick aforesaid, and containing passage and staircse, two large and cheerful parlours, sitting room, china closet, pantry, scullery, dairy, brew-house and wash-house, and five excellent bed chambers, closets, &c. &c.; court yard, with well of good water, ornamental and kitchen gardens, &c.; two separate enclosed farm yards, with two three-bay barns, stabling for six horses, with granary over, enclosed gig-house, wood hovels, pigsties, open hovels, juice tank, &c., rick yard, and labourer's cottage, with wood barn, &c. and garden; together with about 80 Acres of capital ARABLE and PASTURE LAND, in an excellent state of cultivation, of which 51 Acres are highly productive Arable and the remainder first-rate Pasture, divided into 11 Enclosures by good dwarf fences, in which are a number of thriving oak and ash timber trees, and with an abundant supply of good water, offering a most desirable opportunity to any person desirous of possessing a farm of this description; the whole lying very convenient for occupation, and the greater part having been thoroughly drained and improved, and the House and Homestead recently rebuilt and repaired at a very considerable outlay by the present proprietor. About 62 Acres of the above are Freehold, and about 20 Acres Copyhold of the Manor of Tingewick. -- Out-goings: Quit Rent, 12s.; Land Tax, £6 12s 3½d. -- A considerable part of the purchase money may, if required, be had on security of the premises. -- May be viewed, and further particulars known, on application to Messrs.
