William was born before 9 AUG 1835 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of John Allen and Elizabeth Ridgway.[Note 1]

His wife was Mary Jane Goodwin, whom he married in ABT AUG 1869 in St. George, Hanover Square, London. They had no known children.
