Richard was born before 29 JUL 1810 in Chetwode, Buckinghamshire, the son of Frances Chambers and Martha Wood.[Note 1]

He died about NOV 1897 in Buckingham registration district, Buckinghamshire.[Notes 2, 3]

His wife was Mary Anne Holton, whom he married in ABT 1831 in St. Nicholas & St. Mary, Chetwode, Buckinghamshire. Their nine known children were un (?-?), Sarah (?-<1927), Susanna (1836-<1841), Richard (c1837-1853), Harriet (c1839-1876), Lydia Elizabeth (1842-1875), Ann (1843->1861), George (c1847-1915) and Joseph (1849->1861).
