Richard was born about 1813 in Towcester, Northamptonshire, the son of Thomas Bull and Martha Bandy.

He died after 1880. The place is not known.

His wife was Sarah. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their eight known children were Hannah (c1836->1841), Reuben (c1838->1851), Alfred (1839->1851), Amelia (1842->1861), Sarah Anne (<1845-?), Elizabeth (c1848->1861), Albert (1851->1930) and Arthur (c1854->1861).
