Samuel was born about 1829 in Greens Norton, Northamptonshire, the son of John Adams and Wife of John Adams.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Un. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Ann (c1849->1881).

His second wife was Abbi Harvey, whom he married on 8 NOV 1853 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their only known child was Elizabeth (c1856->1881).
