Notes

Note 1

They travelled to Australia in 1911 after

receiving a sum of £100 from George Cross to make a new life elsewhere. We

also are trying to locate the name of the ship and port in England where

they travelled out from. Maria died a few years after they went to

Australia and after her death Richard Thomas Cross travelled with his two

children to America to see Maria's Sister, Aunt Alice Girdwood who lived in

Aurora, Illinois. Alice did not have any children and from what we know,

Alice wanted to adopt Clara but Richard did not allow it and they then

travelled back to England.
