Mary was born in (Lower) Heyford, or Wooton Oxford, Oxfordshire, the daughter of James Cook but her mother is unknown. The date is not known.[Note 1]

She died before 22 MAR 1879 in Water Stratford, Buckinghamshire.[Note 2]

Her husband was Joseph Hartley, whom she married on 28 MAY 1839 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. They had no known children.
