Henry was born on 16 JUL 1841 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of John Charles Barrett and Maria Ann Turnbull.[Note 1]

His wife was Sarah Hannah Jones, whom he married in ABT FEB 1884 in Daventry registration district, Northamptonshire. Their three known children were Thomas H. (c1885-?), John William (c1887-?) and George Frederick (c1889-?).
