William was born before 30 MAY 1847 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of Richard Butcher and Susannah Wise.

He died about APR 1910 in Buckingham registration district, Buckinghamshire.[Notes 1, 2]

His wife was Jane Cecilia Johnson, whom he married on 28 APR 1872 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their three known children were Richard George (c1873-?), Jane Cecilia. (c1877-?) and Edith S. (c1883-?).
