Elizabeth was born before 3 MAR 1850 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of Richard Marshall and Louisa Clarke.[Note 1]

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Jonah Monk, whom she married in ABT FEB 1870 in Bedford registration district, Bedfordshire. Their only known child was Charles Eli Monk OR (c1870-?).

Her second husband was Frederick John Cook, whom she married in ABT MAY 1878 in Pancras registration district, London. Their ten known children were Charles Eli Monk OR (c1870-?), Jane Monk OR (c1875-?), Harriet Monk OR (c1877-?), Ernest (c1879-?), Elizabeth (c1880-?), Ellen (c1880-?), Frederick (c1885-?), Rose (c1886-?), Birta (c1887-?) and Maria (c1889-?).
