George was born about AUG 1845 in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, the son of George Thomas Carpenter and Mary Gardiner.[Notes 1, 2]

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Phoebe Creffield, whom he married in ABT FEB 1875 in Marylebone District, London. Their only known child was Thomas L. (c1879-?).

His second wife was Agnes Elizabeth Taylor, whom he married on 22 JUL 1893 in Duns Tew Oxfordshire. Their only known child was Thomas L. (c1879-?).
