Catherine was born about 1866 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of George Albert Coles and Hannah Hitchcock.[Note 1]

Her husband was Joseph George Wright, whom she married in ABT FEB 1888 in Potterspury registration district, Buckinghamshire. Their ten known children were Edith Emily (c1886-?), Ellen Elizabeth (c1890-?), Florence M. (c1892-?), Fanny L. (c1894-?), Daisy M. (c1898-?), William J. (c1901-?), Gertrude (c1904-?), Bertha (c1905-?), Gladys (c1907-?) and Frederick (c1909-?).
