Jane was born about 1877 in Howe, Yorkshire, the daughter of James Butcher and Harriet Hunter.

Her husband was George Henry Willis, whom she married in ABT 1904. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Grace Annie (c1908-?) and Constance Mary (c1909-?).
