Sarah was born before 4 SEP 1859 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of Joseph Heritage and Sarah Terry.[Note 1]

Her husband was Richard Varney, whom she married in ABT FEB 1879 in Pancras registration district, London. Their seven known children were [Caroline] Ellen (c1879-?), Herbert (c1880-?), George (c1882-?), Florence (c1885-?), Alice (1891-?), Walter Richard (c1899-?) and Ethel (c1900-?).
