Hannah was born about 1816 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of George Smith and Hannah Pipkin.

Her husband was Daniel Coles, whom she married on 17 OCT 1836 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their six known children were William (1838-?), Elizabeth (1840-?), Thomas (1842-<1901), Diana (1846-?), Ellen (c1848-?) and Edmund (1855-?).
