Sarah was born about 1828 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of Joseph Terry and Elizabeth Garner.[Notes 1, 2]

Her husband was Joseph Heritage, whom she married on 28 MAR 1853 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. Their ten known children were John (<1850-?), Elizabeth A. (<1854-?), Eliza Anne (<1857-?), Sarah (<1859-?), Fanny (<1861-?), Joseph (c1864-?), Hannah (c1865-?), Lucy (c1867-<1871), Benjamin (1869-<1871) and William George (c1872-?).
