James was born about 1790 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of Joseph Terry and Anne Read.[Notes 2, 3, 4]

He died in SEP 1866. The place is not known.[Note 5]

His wife was Hannah Taylor, whom he married on 8 OCT 1812 in Aston Abbots, Buckinghamshire. Their eight known children were James (<1814-1893), Rebecca (c1815-1887), William (c1818-<1819), George (<1820-<1820), Richard (<1822-?), John (c1823-c1853), Ambrose (<1825-?) and Joseph (1832-1832).
