Joseph was born before 9 APR 1797 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the son of Joseph Terry and Anne Read.[Note 2]

He died on 3 JUL 1862 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire.[Notes 3, 4]

His wife was Elizabeth Garner, whom he married on 12 OCT 1820 in Preston Bissett, Buckinghamshire. Their twelve known children were Hannah (<1821-?), Richard (<1823-1870), Joseph (<1825-?), Anne (<1827-?), Sarah (c1828-?), Elizabeth (1831-1832), John (1833-1834), Fanny (1834-1868), Eliza (1835-1897), Elizabeth (1838-?), John (1840-1848) and Maria (1842-1848).
