Harriet was born on 11 JUL 1830 in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of James Read and Elizabeth un.[Note 1]

Her husband was Edward Brett, whom she married in ABT FEB 1852 in Buckingham registration district, Buckinghamshire. Their four known children were Elizabeth (<1858-?), Emma (c1862-?), Harriett (c1867->1881) and Edward Benjamin (c1870->1881).
